The work that Mies did for this program was published by Zed Books under the title The Lace Makers of Narsapur: Indian Housewives Produce for the World Market in 1982. WEP was founded in 1969 and its goal was to develop polices aimed towards alleviating mass poverty and unemployment around the world. One of Mies’ founding works in the development of her theory of capitalist-patriarchy was a study that she prepared for the International Labor Office (ILO) under the World Employment Program (WEP).
